Literature:
George Melly, It’s All Writ Out for You: The Life and Work of Scottie Wilson, 1986
Note:
Wilson’s art is dominated by reappearing motifs - birds, fish and clown-like faces (himself). The more sinister creatures were dubbed ‘Evils’ or ‘Greedies’ (p. 27).
“At some point, probably after his return to England, Wilson changed his signature, dropping the large ‘S’ [as seen in this work] with ‘COTTIE’ in its centre in favour of ‘SCOTTIE’ in neat and equal letters. (p.70)
