Heavily cast, the standing figure adorned with a simple crown and jewelry and dressed in long robes while holding a parcel in hand, the whole raised on a tall rectangular plinth
height 14.8" — 37.5 cm.

The Estate of Harry Handel (1916-1972), owner of Everyman’s Bookshop in Montreal. Purchased during the 1950’s at the Gurie Gallery, thence by descent within the family.

Bixia Yuanjun is the Daoist goddess for dawn, childbirth and destiny
