  • Rare Bronze Pala-Style Seated Figure of Tara, East India or Western Tibet, Circa 12th/13th Century
Provenance:

Private New York Collection, acquired during the early 1980’s.

Note:

The Pala influence of this figure is evident with the treatment of the jewelry, the slender proportions, and the relaxed form. The smiling expression and use of mixed-metal inlays are particularly noteworthy, and suggest the artist has encountered East Indian Pala examples of devotional sculptures.
