Note:
Bhairava, the wrathful manifestation of Shiva, takes eight differing forms, and here appears as Samhara Bhairava. This protective deity is typically pictured as the colour of lightning, evidenced in this piece with pigment traces of orange, yellow and red. His bulging eyes, bared teeth and readied mace demonstrate his ferocity.
