Note:

John Ure Garrow, Lieutenant 4th Canadiana Mounted Rifles, youngest son of the lare Hon. Mr. Justice Garrow of the Ontario Court of Appeal and bother of James Garrow, who had this portrait painted by Stanley Royle in May 1936.

John Garrow died in the Great War in 1916 of mustard gas poisoning, at the age of 24 years old. He is buried in France.

The portrait was painted by Stanley Royle in 1935, a friend of the family, as based upon a photograph.
