This work is signed “M.McL.” which is how Margaret Alexandra Luke who married Clarence McLaughlin, grandson of Robert McLaughlin, originally signed her pictures. To distance herself from Isabel McLaughlin, her painter sister in-law, Margaret began in 1948 to use her middle name, Alexandra, and her birth name, Luke. She was thereafter known as Alexandra Luke.
