Provenance:

Private Collection, Toronto

Literature:

Colin S. MacDonald, A Dictionary of Canadian Artists, Volume 4, 3rd edition, Canadian Paperbacks, Ottawa, 1979, page 1320.

Note:

Montreal-based, Rita Mount (1888-1967) often motored across the country on long sketching trips and this work likely depicts a scene found on an east coast jaunt.

Mount was one of the few women to hold one woman art shows at the Art Association of Montreal and the Musée de la Province de Quebec.
