Provenance:

Private Collection, Montreal

Literature:

Roxane Babinska, Bruno Côté: Beyond the Land, Vincent Fortier Publishing, Ottawa & Toronto, 2003, page 138.

Note:

“It is necessary to go beyond the structure in order to uncover the significance of each painting. Bruno Côté offers a useful tip: He suggests that I hold my hand to my eye like a telescope, and that I observe the paintings through it.” Transitioning from work in his family’s publicity business to that of a full-time artist, Côté was inspired by the richness of the Canadian landscape. Using a simple palette, Côté paints scenery that is savage yet beautiful.
