Dennis Reid suggests that Lawren Harris’ underlying principles for the Group of Seven could be viewed as a description of Brooker’s abstractions: “creating living works in their own right by using forms, colour, rhythms and moods, to make a harmonious home for the imaginative and spiritual meanings…evoked…”
