ROZ MARSHALL (1947 - )

Roz Marshall is a Canadian artist best known for her vivid, colorful and highly decorative still-life paintings.

Rosalind Marshall was born in 1947 in Newport, Wales. The daughter of an officer in the Royal Air Force, Marshall moved several times in her youth, living in Washington, DC, and Bahrain, before her family immigrated to Canada in 1962, settling in Vancouver, British Columbia. Marshall graduated with honors in Painting from the Vancouver School of Arts in 1970, having studied under Don Jarvis, Bruce Boyd, and Jack Shadbolt, whom she credits for her independent approach to imagery. Marshall later studied ceramics and drawing at High Wycombe College of Art, in England, and printmaking at the Alberta College of Art. Her love of travel has also brought her on painting trips to Australia, Bali, Fiji, and Europe.

Marshall has had solo shows across Canada and Hawaii, and has been part of group exhibits across North America, Hong Kong and Singapore. Her work is found in a number of private and public collections.

Marshall has been living in Kona, Hawaii, since 2002, where she teaches and has runs an gallery/studio.
