JOHN FREEMAN (1944 - )

John Freeman was born in Toronto in 1944, and moved to Alberta in 1947. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Art, with a minor in Psychology in 1966, studied sculpture at the Alberta College of Art from 1967 to 1969, and obtained his Master of Visual Arts, with a specialization in Painting and Printmaking, from the University of Alberta in 1972. Upon graduation, Freeman taught at the University of Alberta, as a tenured faculty member until his retirement in 2005.

Freeman has worked in various media, including sculpture, painting, drawing, print making photography and video. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally for the past forty years and his work is included in many public, private and corporate collections across Canada.
Freeman lives in Edmonton, Alberta, where he owns a fine art digital printing company called The Big Pixel Inc, and concentrates on his own art work.
