About artist/note:

Alex McLeod’s Kingdom Disaster was commissioned by the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art for the Toronto International Art Fair in 2010. McLeod was chosen to be Art Toronto’s featured benefit edition artist that year, a distinction shared with such notables as Edward Burtynsky, Doug Coupland, Ed Pien and Sarah Anne Johnson. The proceeds from the sales of this print were donated in support of MOCCA’s programming initiatives.

Kingdom Disaster is an example of McLeod’s mastery of digital technology; his works appear to be photographs of miniaturized sets, much like an architectural model or diorama, but are actually rendered with 3D software. The resulting prints explore his recurring themes of fantasy, futurism, ecological apocalypse and rebirth.
