Private Collection, Toronto

Note:

“I have joyful, youthful memories of pure bliss from spending time at beaches,” explains Toronto-based photographer Joshua Jensen-Nagle. Revered for his emotional images of aerial landscapes, Nagle features idiosyncratic rock formations, wave textures, and deep caves of scenes from Hawaii, Portugal, Australia, Brazil, and the States. Shooting from a variety of vantage points and employing softer tones reminiscent of old polaroid photographs, his works evoke a sense of nostalgia and tranquility. “[...] I understand photography as a means to create rather than document reality, allowing the viewer to bring their own associations to the work” he comments.
