Provenance:

Private Collection, Toronto

Note:

Wielding his brush with an eruptive force, Thomas Ackermann’s paintings display raw energy that reflects his own passion and propensity for playfulness, often lampooning the pomp of historical, social, religious indoctrinations. His use of encaustics, displays expertise within his work that differentiates him from other painters.

Originally from Germany, Ackermann immigrated to Toronto, where he would later attend York University and the Toronto New School of Art. He operated out of a studio in Spain for nine years before relocating to Forest, Ontario. Ackermann’s works have exhibited across North America and in Europe, including the Toronto International Art Fair (Toronto, ON). His works can be found in a number of prominent collections, including that of the Kunstmuseum Stadt (Bad Hersfeld, Germany) and Casa de la Cultura (Almeria, Spain) and Casey House (Toronto, ON).
