the opposing armies on green stained and natural bases, with the king and Rajah under double dome howdahs on elephants, the queens under parasols also on elephants, the bishops as water buffalo and lions, knights as soldiers mounted on camels and horses respectively, rooks as flag bearers on towers and pawns as foot soldiers
