of slightly flaring cylinder form, inset with an oval painted profile portrait medallion of a woman wearing a lace bonnet within a gilt surround and cut oval bead border, inscribed verso ‘Verfertiget / zu Gutenbrunn / im Fürnbergischen grossen / Weinsperwald / 1796 / Von Mildner’, the opposite side engraved and gilt with armorials, the base inset with a circular gilt medallion showing St. Aloysius Gonzaga holding a crucifix and lily on the inside and Cupid with an apple held in each hand underneath, the applied rim with a gilt border of flowers and leaves, further inscribed on the interior, above an engraved swag border, the base cut with short flutes interspersed with engraved flowers

CONDITION DETAILS

Very small chip at lower edge of applied rim; gilding on engraved armorials and borders is worn; otherwise substantially in good condition; inscription on the inner rim is intact and lengthy but difficult to read
