Provenance:

By descent to the present Private Collection, Toronto

Note:

Etrog is most recognized for his cast-bronze sculptures, however, his oeuvre includes many works on paper including illustrations and print making that were later realized in large scale sculptural forms executed in wood or metal, several of which stand in public places in Toronto.

The image of the ‘link’ first appears in his work in 1964. In 1965, Etrog made his first graphics. "The Link created a tension at the points where they joined, where they pulled together or pulled apart," Etrog said in 2001.

Etrog was elected a member of the Order of Canada in 1994 and two years later became a Chevalier of Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France.

The Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto held a major retrospective of his work in 2013.
