This image is illustrated on the front cover of Mel Gooding’s first full scale monograph on the life and work of this Glasgow-born British artist entitled: Merlyn Evans, published by Cameron & Hollis, UK in 2010.

In the 1950’s Evans endeavoured to harness the power of geometrical abstraction and to revive the mezzotint technique. The Pentaptych mezzotints (1961) shared the geometrical abstraction of the artist’s paintings of the 1960’s
