Note:

Eight Hearts is a theme and shape that is constantly revisited throughout Jim Dine’s illustrious career – true to the Pop Art fashion, plucking inanimate objects from the everyday and raising them into the godly sphere of high art as notable subjects. Eight Hearts marries Dine’s passion for repetition and motifs with playful zeal– hearts (iconic of Dine’s work), speak to the understanding of colour as each becomes a vehicle for both written and visual expressions. Eight Hearts also touched upon the association of their representation, love, with the final heart Rainbow encompassing all colours, an act of togetherness, unified in one heart shape.

Dine’s works are collected by major institutions and museums around the world, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), British Museum (London), the Tate Modern (London), Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (New York) and the Whitney Museum of American Art (New York). In Canada, Dine’s oeuvre was first exhibited in 2009 at Montreal’s Galerie de Bellefeuille.
