CAYMUS CABERNET SAUVIGNON SPECIAL SELECTION 2001 (1)

Napa Valley.

CAYMUS CABERNET SAUVIGNON SPECIAL SELECTION 2004 (2)

Napa Valley.

Even richer and fuller than the regular bottling, but at the same time hedonistically and voluptuously styled is the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection. Dense ruby/purple with low acidity and huge amounts of fruit, this is a seamless, full-bodied, classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now and over the next 15-18 years. WS 92 WA 95

DOMINUS ESTATE 2003 (2)

Napa Valley.

The 2003 Dominus is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot (14.1% alcohol). Remarkably, it is the 20th vintage for Christian Moueix. Always a Bordeaux-inspired wine with restraint yet substance as well as a textured richness, the 2003 exhibits a deep plum/ruby/purple color, a creamy, opulent texture, no hard edges, and a wonderful sweetness of foresty, black currant and cherry fruit mixed with underbrush and hints of Chinese black tea. Well-proportioned and full-bodied, yet never over-stated or out of balance, this is another beauty from Moueix. Drink it over the next 15+ years. June 2013 WA 95

VÉRITÉ LA JOIE 1999 (1)

North Coast, California.

Composed of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot (89% from Sonoma and 11% from Napa), the 1999 is a much younger wine than the 1998 and still has some upside potential. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of graphite, unsmoked high class cigar tobacco, black currants and flowers. Round and generous with some tannins in the finish, it is close to full maturity and should drink well for another 15+ years. May 2011 WA 95
