Lot 358 Details
ALBAN VINEYARDS SYRAH SEYMOUR'S VINEYARD 2009 (3)Central Coast, California.
More angular and edgy, yet still more approachable than normal for this cuvee, the 2009 Syrah Seymour’s Vineyard has serious amounts of mineral-tinged dark fruits, licorice, smoked herbs and chocolate as well a firm, structured, full-bodied profile on the palate. This wine’s big bones, ripe tannin and bright acidity all point to a long life. Give it 3-4 years in the cellar and enjoy though 2024+. Drink 2015-2024. 96 WA
ALBAN VINEYARDS SYRAH SEYMOUR'S VINEYARD 2010 (2)
Central Coast, California.
Always the most backward and structured of John's three Syrahs, the 2010 Syrah Seymour's Vineyard is no exception. Possessing brighter acidity and more tannin than either the Reva or Lorraine, this big, full-bodied, backward bruiser offers lots of currants, blackberries, caramelized meats, olive and chocolate nuances. It's another 2010 that needs to be forgotten for 4-5 years, yet will have two decades or more of longevity. 97 WA
ALBAN VINEYARDS SYRAH SEYMOUR'S VINEYARD 2011 (1)
Central Coast, California.
The 2011 Syrah Seymour's Vineyard is the clear standout in 2011. Full-bodied, concentrated, beautifully textured and with superb ripeness, it offers lots of currants, tapenade, spice-box and smoked meats to go with a full-bodied, concentrated and even voluptuous feel on the palate. While this was backward and reserved during my tasting last year, it's come on like gangbusters since then and is one of the more approachable and forward Seymour's I've tasted. (95-98)+ WA
