With both the 1996 and 1998 Shiraz Hanisch Vineyard incredible examples of Barossa Shiraz. Both are dense and full-bodied with soaring aromas of black fruits, damp earth, camphor, pepper, and asphalt. The 1996 is slightly more structured and tannic, and the 1998 is more perfectly formed with a seamless integration of acidity, tannin, alcohol, and wood (the latter component has completely disappeared at age eleven). 96 WA
