DOMAINE LA BARROCHE CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE CUVÉE PURE 2009 (3)
Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Always showing well (which is a trait of the vintage), the 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape Pure is about as sexy as wine gets. Just layered with notions of sweet kirsch liqueur, raspberries, ground pepper, herbes de Provence and licorice. Silky, seamless, full-bodied and perfectly balanced, with fine tannin and a blockbuster finish, drink it anytime over the coming 15 years. Drink 2015-2030 97 WA

DOMAINE LA BARROCHE CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE CUVÉE PURE 2006 (1)
Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
stained label.

From another vintage that flies under the radar, yet always delivers tons of pleasure, the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Pure is less flamboyant than the 2005 and has more spice, ground herbs, pepper and licorice to go with a rocking core of sweet Grenache Fruit. It's full-bodied, structured and has a touch of dry tannin on the finish that I suspect will probably never completely integrate. Nevertheless, there's ample mid-palate depth and a tons of sweet fruit. September 2015 Drink: 2015-2024 95 WA
