Lot 168 Details
JOSEPH PHELPS INSIGNIA PROPRIETARY RED WINE 2003 (1)

Napa Valley.
scraped and wrinkled label.

The 2003 has performed well in recent tasting, showing a dense purple color along with notes of creosote, lavender, flowers, creme de cassis, espresso roast, white chocolate and a hint of oak. Still in a young adolescent stage, it should drink nicely for another 15-20 years. November 2013 WA 93

JOSEPH PHELPS INSIGNIA PROPRIETARY RED WINE 2007 (1)

Napa Valley.
scraped and wrinkled label.

Deep garnet colored with a lingering hint of purple, the 2007 Insignia Proprietary Red Wine reveals the most seductive crème de cassis, Black Forest cake and licorice notions with touches of violets, eucalyptus, chocolate box and unsmoked cigars plus a waft of cedar chest. Full-bodied with tantalizing opulence yet compelling restraint, the palate beautifully juxtaposes the rich, ripe fruit with wonderful freshness and a firm yet plush backbone, finishing beautifully perfumed. August 2018 Drink: 2018-2050 WA 100

JOSEPH PHELPS INSIGNIA PROPRIETARY RED WINE 2008 (2)

Napa Valley.
2 x wrinkled and scraped labels.

The 2008 reveals an opaque purple color in addition to blueberry and blackberry fruit notes intermixed with incense and violets. Barely approaching adolescence, it is still a grapy, primary, full-bodied beauty that will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring. It should drink well for 20-25 years. November 2013 WS 94 WA 93
