The west margin of this map includes the annotation: ‘Hereabouts are supposed to be teh Mountains of Bright Stones mentioned in the Map of Indian Ochagach.’ Ochagach (or Auchagach) was a Cree explorer who acted as a guide to early French explorers in search of the elusive north west passage.
