Bronze with dark brown patina; signed “Plazzotta” and numbered in an edition of 9 in the cast, this being numbered “9B” of an edition of 9 on the accompanying Enzo Plazzotta, London, Photo-Certificate, titled, dated 1972 and cast “cire perdue” by the Fonderia Mariani Artistica to the Certificate, that the artist signed and dated on “December 1976” in pen and ink.

In 1967, inspired by the ballerina Nadia Nerina, Plazzotta began to experiment with the movements of dance. He created a second version in bronze of Antoinette Sibley (II); and another “Sibley in Repose”, 1972; as well as bronzes of other dancers including Anthony Dowell and several of Nureyev,
