According to Libby Horner, this work, previously entitled The Three Half Moons and the Barbary Pirate, formed the frontispiece to W.H. Long’s “Naval Yarns” from 1899. The scene depicts the Dolphin heading for London with her cargo, and a skirmish with five Turkish men-of-war in January 1617.
