It is impossible not to experience Etungat’s Bird of Spring without an overwhelming sense of optimism. As one of his most well known images, this lot emits a profound sense of life and energy, parallel to the shifting of the Arctic’s longest season from winter to spring.
Etungat’s original 5 inch soapstone carving of Bird of Spring was reproduced in a 7 foot tall bronze for the Devonian Foundation. The bronze and is now displayed in public areas in cities across Canada, including Halifax, Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto.
