Note:

Tuna Iquiliq’s ability to animate his rotund figures with minimal technique is very apparent here. The kneeling figure has a slightly upturned mouth, suggesting a sense joviality. His foot and arm extend forward, as if to communicate with the viewer. The piece is at once without airs and with a powerful singular presence.
