Note:

"Kiugak has confirmed that his "bird spirits" are in fact depiction's of Natturalik, a name that translates as Golden Eagle in Inuktitut. The story of Natturalik was told to Kiugak by the shaman, Kiakshuk, his father Ashoona, and by many other elders in the camps where he lived. It clearly holds extraordinary significance in his art and in his imagination."
