Lot Report

Provenance:

Private Collection, Toronto

Note:

Painted in 1940.

It is interesting to note that Casson was elected a full member of the Royal Canadian Academy in 1940, the year this work was painted and, a year later, elected President of the Ontario Society of Artists.

The theme of waterfalls re-occurs during the course of Casson’s work, especially in later paintings from the 1970’s such as Below Ragged Falls, Oxtongue River.
