Artist Bio:
Joanna Strong’s practice explores representation and materiality, examining how physical objects embody intangible concepts. Her painting process involves a direct connection with object and form, as she interacts with, shapes and observes the subject, addressing the relationship between appearance and meaning.

The Entanglement series uses rubber bands as the source material; detailed paintings which evoke mysterious worlds are the final result of a process of collecting, recycling and entwining these ephemera from daily life to create unique planetary spheres. Landscape elements of skies, snow, water and roads are implied, and abstract ideas of entangled thoughts and feelings are given form.
