Provenance:

Private Collection, Calgary, AB

Note:

A partially obscured self-portrait and a cat’s apparent disregard for organization are set against mathematically spaced window panes and floor boards in Black Cat (1996), highlighting one of Colville’s favoured themes: order vs. chaos. The triangular ruler, once precisely arranged on the table top, becomes a mere play thing and breaks the ordered composition.
