Note:

Heckel was one of the founding members of the Die Brücke. (the Bridge) art movement in Germany in 1905. Along with founders Ernst Ludwig Kirschner and Karl Schmidt-Rottluf and later members, Max Pechstein, Otto Müller, and Emil Nolde, they exhibited their works in over twenty shows.
