Provenance:

Collection of Lolo Sarnoff, Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A,
Private Collection, Washington, DC, U.S.A.

Note:

This cat-like creature is one of Ashevak’s more simplified inspirations, yet the work has no less impact on the viewer. Purchased in New York City in the early 1970’s by sculptor, arts patron, and scientist Lolo Sarnoff and later gifted to her dear friend, the consigner, the work has been admired in prestigious art circles.
In the spring of 2015, Lolo Sarnoff’s extraordinary art collection was auctioned at Sotheby’s. The collection ranged from Impressionist & Modern Art including works by Picasso, Chagall and Renoir to Chinese art and French Faience porcelain.
