Henry Youle Hind, Explorations in the Interior of the Labrador Peninsula : the country of the Montagnais and Nasquapee Indians (Volume I, Chapter II, p21), London, 1863. A picture combining parts of both compositions is reproduced in a wood cut.

Note:

"Two days after this wedding, Louis went out with his wife to hunt seals. She steered and he took the gun the way these Indians do. She steered him close to a seal, he fired and missed, she brought him to a third seal, close to it, he missed again. She said nothing but paddled to shore an then ran to her father's lodge. She says she will never live with him again."
