Note:

In 1758 David Gavin, a local landowner, bought Langton. He established the settlement Gavinton as a planned estate village in 1759 when he demolished the village and the church of Langton, which were situated on his estate, and built a new residence.

He married firstly Christina Maria Hirsce, and after her death in 1767, he married Lady Elizabeth Maitland, daughter of James, 7th Earl of Lauderdale. IN 1793 his daughter Mary Turner married John, 4th Earl and 1st Marquess of Breadalbane.
